A couple weeks ago my wife and I were able to go to the Northern KY Photo Pro Expo at the Convention Center on Madison. It was a great experience! We weren’t able to attend any of the classes they offer but we did take advantage of their portfolio review and visited the trade show floor.
The review went great! A professional from Louisville sat down with Stacy and I and gave some great constructive criticism and praise on 10 of my selected images. He offered some great artistic and business advice that I look forward to taking advantage of.
Then we were off to the trade show where Westcott had a lighting setup with 2 models posing for a group of photographers. That is where I got this awesome shot! One of the takeaways I got from this experience was how my shooting style is so different from the traditional photographers. Thanks to Sony’s extremely flexible LCD screen I was able to stick my arm out with my camera and still see the LCD so I could compose my shot. All the other photographers were huddled in the floor with their faces up to their cameras looking through their view finders.
All in all it was a great experience that was really beneficial to the business too!
This is our second test of our photo booth we are building. We have all electrical parts (except the monolight and modeling lights at the top) and most of the structure, we still have to put the doors on and hang the monitor. All and all I think it turned out great! It’s an easy one button function and prints out a 4×6 professional grade print all in under 1 minute 25 seconds. Next step is finishing up the doors and cutting the holes for the camera lens. Then I’ll finish up the lighting and we should be done.
This is the first test of the photo booth we are building! Right now we have most of the electronics that will go inside the booth. This test was to make sure the process went smoothly and the software worked the way we wanted it to. It was a total success! The white bar at the bottom is the watermark but that will go away once we purchase the software.
We do need to get the lighting (I was using our studio lights) and will be using a different background. The printouts are also completely customizable to each event. Our next step is to test the printer that we’ve ordered then it will be on to building the structure. We are shooting for February 1st to have everything done.
Might be my new favorite shot! This was our first wedding for 2014 and if it’s any indication on how this year will go then 2014 will be a great year! We had a lot of fun and they were awesome! It was about 25F degrees outside and we hurried up and shot this. I ran out and set it up then brought them out and stood in the middle of Madison avenue to get the shot!
This is my first blog post! The 2013 wedding season has pretty much wrapped up for us. We went out with style too! Sarah and Mike had a beautiful wedding and helped Stacy and I capture some beautiful moments! This one was one of my favorites. We were doing outdoor photos and it started raining. The bride’s mother had bought everyone matching purple umbrellas. Sarah was holding her’s and Mike sneaked in for a kiss. It’s a beautiful pose and the color really pops and Sarah looks so happy!
